Quick Facts about Limassol

Limassol doesn't do things by halves. It's the second-largest city in Cyprus and a favourite with people who like their seaside with a splash of style. There's a long promenade lined with palm trees, a shiny new marina filled with yachts, and just inland, a maze of narrow streets where the scent of citrus trees hangs in the air. Old and new sit comfortably side by side – think medieval castle one minute, rooftop sushi bar the next.

The city's known for its carnival spirit. Every spring, Limassol hosts the biggest and boldest carnival in Cyprus, with floats, feathers and flowers galore. Speaking of which, it's got a lively floral scene. Bougainvillaea drapes itself over balconies, while market stalls groan with freshly cut blooms. Limassol's florists are no strangers to showstoppers either – think big, bright arrangements for weddings, events and beachside hotels.

Dig a little deeper and you'll find that Limassol has a softer side too. It's home to the Cyprus Wine Museum and some pretty scenic vineyards, where wildflowers peek out between the vines. Whether you're after something bold and modern or soft and seasonal, you'll find flower know-how in spades here.
